RDI® with autism intervention services
Relationship Development Intervention (RDI®) is a parent - based clinical treatment developed by Steven Gutstein, Ph. D., and Rachelle Sheely, Ph. D., of the Connections Center in Houston, Texas. RDI® is a relatively new treatment approach based on extensive research and studies of individuals on the autism spectrum that provides parents with tools to address their child's deficits. It is effective and appropriate for all ages, stages, and levels of functioning.
RDI® is a multi-stage developmental model that empowers families to help their child develop motivation to interact including:
- Meaningful communication
- A desire and skill to share experiences with others
- A curiosity and enthusiasm for people
- Increased initiation and joint attention
- Desire to seek out and interact with peers
- Ability to adapt more easily and decrease behavioural problems
At autism intervention services we provide you with regular assessment and review of your RDI® program, coupled with regular supporting visits to ensure you get the most from RDI®
